Only made in exceptional years, Rujno is a rare selection of Gravner’s Rosso—predominantly Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon—aged with monk-like patience. Fermented for five weeks on the skins in open oak vats (tini di rovere), using wild yeasts and no temperature control, it was then matured in large barrels for four years and aged in bottle for twelve more.
The 2005 vintage was beautifully balanced, with mild summer rains and autumn conditions that encouraged noble rot. The result is hauntingly complex: dense yet translucent, with layers of dried plum, tobacco leaf, black tea, truffle, and underbrush. Ultra-fine tannins and earthy depth frame the wine’s soulful character—structured, powerful, and built to endure. Bottled under a waning moon, unfiltered.
