This Saturday we’re opening six skin-contact wines. Some are structured, others more lifted, but all are fermented with native yeasts and bottled without fining or filtration. The lineup covers a range of styles, from extended maceration to short skin contact, and spans the Loire, Alsace, Calabria, and Sicily.

Farming is organic or beyond in every case. The wines move from classic orange expressions with tannin and texture to lighter, more aromatic examples suited to spring.

Lineup:

La Ginestra – Sant’Ellero Bianco 2023
Trebbiano and Malvasia Toscana from Chianti. Brief skin contact, fermented and aged in concrete. Floral and open-knit, with light tannin and clean acidity.

Salvatore Marino – Turi Bianco 2023
Grillo from sandy soils near Pachino in southeast Sicily. Two days on skins, aged in stainless. Herbal and saline, with citrus oil and firm acidity.

Sylvain Martinez – Vin Jour 2022
Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire. About two weeks on skins, aged in old barrels. No additions. Textured and deep, with stone fruit, dried herbs, and a fine grip.

Donnadicope – Troppo Macerato 2024
Our new house orange. Cataratto with ten days of maceration, aged for nine months. 30 ppm of SO2 at bottling. Apricot and peach on the nose, soft tannin and a smooth finish.

Pépin – Orange Lot 30 2023
Alsatian blend of Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Sylvaner. Short maceration, stainless steel aging. Orange blossom, ginger, light phenolic texture.

Domaine Einhart – Orange 2022
Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Auxerrois from biodynamic vineyards in Alsace. Ten days on skins. Drier and more structured, with firm tannin and length.
