Barone Cornacchia sits on a hilltop at Torano Nuovo, above the Val Vibrata as it runs down to the Adriatic. After phylloxera, Barone Filippo Maria replanted the vineyards with old clones on American rootstock. Today siblings Filippo and Caterina run the estate, certified organic since 2012. The Vibrata wines are a collaboration between the family and The Terroirs Project. They are a direct expression of the two local grapes, Trebbiano and Montepulciano: hand-picked fruit, native yeasts and very little sulphur.

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo "Vibrata" 2024 (White, 750ml)

Trebbiano from the hills above the Vibrata. Hand-picked, destemmed and gently pressed, then fermented with native yeasts and kept in steel to hold the fruit clean. Pale straw; lemon, white flowers, a light almond bitterness on the finish. A great everyday italian white.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Vibrata" 2024 (White, 750ml)

Montepulciano, fully destemmed and left on its skins for 8-12 days before native-yeast fermentation in steel. No wood, little sulphur. Dark cherry, plum, a little dried herb; firm but easy tannins. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and enough acidity to keep it fresh.
