Pupillin, one of the winemaking cradles of the Jura, sits three kilometres south of Arbois, above steep marl and limestone slopes cut in two by a stream, the Glanon. In 1909, with the vineyards in crisis, its growers pooled their vines and founded a co-op. Today 35 members farm around 65 hectares between 300 and 400 metres. Cuvée Le Glanon is part of the Terroirs Project, made without additives from the co-op’s organic grapes.

Chardonnay "Le Glanon" 2022 (White, 750ml)

AOC Arbois-Pupillin. From vines around Pupillin, in the Jura’s belt of marl and limestone, this is Chardonnay under its old local alias, Melon à Queue Rouge. Grapes are hand-picked, destemmed and pressed after a short skin maceration, then fermented with indigenous yeast in foudre at controlled temperature, with malolactic fermentation left to run its course. Twelve months’ maturation in foudre follows. Bottled without filtration or fining, and with no added SO2. Made for drinking rather than to age.
