Chiusa Spagnolo is a single vineyard in contrada Zottorinoto: a lava-rock amphitheatre at 620 m on Etna’s north slope, planted with old Nerello Mascalese on its own roots. Cornelissen counts it among his grand crus. It is the most structured of them, closer to Nebbiolo than to Pinot. No additions. Eight years after harvest, it is beginning to open.
