Houas Boukella came to Anjou from Kabylia, in Algeria’s Tell Atlas, in 2019 and learned his craft alongside Patrick Desplats. Iskar is Chardonnay macerated on its skins, raised in amphorae buried beside his family’s vegetable garden. 2022 was one of the hottest, driest Loire summers on record, and it shows: golden, ripe, warm, with the skins holding it together.
