As spring settles in, we’ll be pouring six red wines that reflect the shift in season — lighter in structure, lower in tannin, and shaped by freshness and clarity. These aren’t wines meant to overwhelm with complexity. They’re well grown, well made, easy to drink, easy to enjoy — whether on a rooftop, in the park, or at the table.

Wines to be poured:

Nasciri – Vinu I Casa Rosso 2022
From the Ionian coast of Calabria, just inland from Bianco. A co-planted vineyard of Gaglioppo, Greco Nero, and other local varieties on clay-limestone soils. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts. Pale in color and lean in frame, with dried herbs, sour cherry, and brisk acidity.

• Vino di Anna – Palmentino Rosso 2022
A field blend centered on Nerello Mascalese, from old bush vines on the north face of Etna. Fermented partially in a traditional palmento, partially in tank. Bright and stony, with lifted aromatics, red citrus, and a gentle smokiness from the volcanic soils. Unfined, unfiltered.

Il Mortellito – Cala Niuru 2022
Frappato with a small proportion of Nero d’Avola, grown on limestone and sand near Noto in southeastern Sicily. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in stainless. Vivid and expressive, showing wild strawberry, blood orange, and a thread of Mediterranean herbs. Light and juicy.

Elisa Guérin – Beaujolais-Villages 2023
From young Gamay vines just outside the cru boundaries of Moulin-à-Vent, grown on limestone. Whole cluster fermentation in concrete, followed by aging in neutral oak. The wine is taut and precise, with cranberry, redcurrant, and a cool mineral finish.

Sylvain Martinez – Corbeau 2022
A blend of Grolleau and Gamay from biodynamically farmed parcels near Thésée in the eastern Loire. Whole bunch fermented and aged in old barrels. Tart red fruit and black pepper. Light, slightly wild, and full of tension.

Nøvice – Merci 2022
Poulsard from Pupillin, Jura. Vinified with whole clusters, aged in neutral wood, bottled without sulfur. Pale with a slight orange tinge, with notes of rose petal, cranberry, and a hint of crushed rock. Punchy and finely textured.
