This fragrant and complex red wine is made from Nerello Mascalese with small amounts of Nerello Cappuccio, Alicante (Grenache), and Grecanico. Sourced from two parcels in Contrada Crasa—Vigna Jules, with 90+ year-old vines in reddish-brown silty soils, and Vigna Gaspard, a younger amphitheater vineyard planted in basaltic clay soils—it offers both depth and freshness. Harvested in early October, the grapes were destemmed, foot-pressed, and macerated for two weeks before aging in a 20hl wooden foudre. A touch of sulfur was added. Expect crunchy wild red fruits, floral aromas, and volcanic minerality, with firm acidity and austere tannins softening into a balanced, spicy finish.
