From Roddolo’s own vineyards in Monforte d’Alba, this Nebbiolo spends long years in old oak botte and barrique before release. It’s a young sibling to Barolo, both in style and concentration. The 2016, from an excellent vintage, shows dark cherry, olive, dried herb, forest floor, and rose petal, with the firm structure that marks all of Roddolo’s reds. Built to evolve, though the decade-old release takes some of the guesswork out of deciding when to open one.
